This music platform website curates a Spotify playlist based on locations which you specify, allowing you to listen to music from the areas you want to culturally experience.
I coordinated our team by setting project timing goals, organizing the group's ideas, administering the prompt selection process, chunking work into tasks, and stitching together contributions.
Aside from that, I also worked deeply on the Spotify OAuth integration, which gave us access to a user's account.
Data flow
We used the API for a music encyclopedia, MusicBrainz, to get data about artists from a certain town. Then, we used the Spotify API to get the top tracks by that artist. Finally, we used Spotify's OAuth API to allow the user to allow us to create a new playlist and populate it with songs.
Outcome
Our team was a Finalist and winner of the Skillful Execution Award for the Univerisity of Illinois Research Park 2024 Hackathon.
